Cyrus IMAP is an open source online mailstore service providing authenticated access on mailboxes using standard protocols such as IMAP and POP3. Today, IMAP as a protocol is supported by nearly every mail client including those found on Apple’s devices ranging from Mac OS X systems to iOS devices such as iPhone and iPad. All the latter include an Apple-specific way of syncing notes over IMAP though newer releases shifted to use iCloud for that.
